MARCH 2013
Converse Supports Creative Spirit
Converse is for individuals everywhere who live creatively, optimistically and rebelliously. Since 1908 and until-who-knows-when, Converse has existed to provoke and inspire communities of people — whether that’s on a court, in the club or even kicking alcohol and drug abuse to the curb. There are no limits for Converse.
Converse Africa has a strong relationship with Royal Fam Kings (RFK), a dance movement that started in 2006 in an effort to stop drug abuse by promoting Krumping in the Cape Flats. The negative impact that drug abuse has had in the Cape Flats community has undeniably touched the lives of every South African, and it is movements such as RFK that encourage business enterprises to play their part in addressing the situation and providing hope and a path to self-improvement and promotion.
This is the reason Skye Distribution in South Africa has taken a bold step in supporting RFK in keeping youngsters off the streets and giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents and eventually mobilise every South African to take a stand against alcohol and drug abuse.
With competitions and gigs around the Western Cape communities such as, Atlantis, Lentegeur, Eastridge, Delft, Cape Town, Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain, Kraaifontein, Northpine and many more; RFK gets Cape communities Krumping.
Justine Cullinan, Marketing Executive for Skye Distribution added, “Whether you are an activist, a business mogul, or a youngster finding their place in society, Converse aims to inspire your creative spirit and to leave the world a better place than we found it. Through initiatives like this, we aim to encourage every member of the Converse Community to play their part in generating awareness around the negative impact that alcohol and drug abuse has in our communities.”
Look out for RFK in your community, or follow RFK and Converse on Twitter to find out when they will be in your area @RoyalFamKings or @Converse_Africa, you can also like the Royal Fam Kings fan page or Converse fan page on Facebook for details of their next gig.
